Jimi and Some Other Groovy Cats

We played Gypsy Eyes from Jimi on the 4:20 Smokebreak Friday afternoon...and inside information is that the intro doing the Jimi Hendrix voice is a guy by the name of Michael Winslow who is from Washington and is a big Jimi fan. He specializes in doing sound effects. It's really freakin' weird.

Michael Winslow in his Geico commercial

...and while we're on 4:20...this dude bids 4:20 each time and Bob Barker of course, has no clue.

Rick French

2 hours today on the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame with Hall of Fame board member Rick French who was in town to talk about the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Benefit and John Entwistle Foundation Concert at Koka Booth in Cary September 20th.

Rick-Amanda-Foster-Blade

(Amanda might have been Rick's publicist-the obvious will not be stated here hehe)

We talked about these bands and why they were not in the Hall Of Fame...with the most asked about band being Rush.

Yes
Kiss
Alice Cooper
Genesis
Boston
Cheap Trick
J. Geils

A furious Rush fan called up to say the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame is totally political and they don't like Rush.

Sexual Harrassment

Blade had his meeting with HR today...they were concerned about his comments about "wood" surrounding the new traffic girl yesterday.

So...we went over the company sexual harrassment policy on the air just to be safe and also...it might help other people that are listening...a service we provided on Wednesday. make sure you don't make "catcalls" or "expose yourself".

And look at this horrid commercial video:

chime in: hangin with the dudes after taking viagra

Can we get a new campaign for Viagra?

Blade: Reporting To HR

Blade Quote: "There was too much wood in here anyway...I'm glad we have a new girl."

We have a new traffic girl and her name is Betty Spivey. Oooookay. Brian Harrington is now only on Salt and Demetri in the morning and Foster got an email from Human Resources right afer the term "wood" was mentioned talking about our new traffic girl.

So Blade goes to HR tomorrow and let's see how that turns out. Probably just a slap on the wrist.

Coach Lindy Ruff

Reminiscing on Wednesday

The 2006 Stanley Cup Champ Carolina Hurricanes

This week in 2006 the Hurricanes got rid of Buffalo in the conference finals to move on to the Stanley Cup where they beat Edmonton in that epic 7 game series. The first thing you think of is what drunken pricks the Buffalo fans were at our games. Outside the RBC and inside the RBC, it was embarrassing.

Listen to Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff whine.

We talked with Barry Melrose the week after that Stanley Cup. A morbid prophecy.

-Barry Melrose with Blade in 2006 and no, we haven't been to the playoffs since.

Jenna Bush and Chris Paul

Well...Foster was invited up to Jenna Bush's wedding last weekend and he's all giddy because the pictures came back. Foster says we don't know what weddings like that are like...people say stuff and people do stuff that doesn't happen at everyday weddings.

Tap The Rockies

Archive Photo

Night Prowler-AC/DC Tribute Band from a visit last month

Two Guys Bullsh*****g

We figured out that it takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes for a warm Coors Light to get to perfect drinking temperature when placed in a cooler and it's just too super cool that the Rockies label turns from white to blue when it's ready for consuming. We also figured out that if you put a 6 pack in the cooler at 5:30 at night, there will be less than six remaining the next day at 5:30. In fact, you'll be lucky if there are any left. It is a classic radio postulate:

-If you come across anything at the station, it is probably promotional, therefore free, therefore yours. So don't be an a**hole and leave a six-pack out anywhere and expect people to respect your property. It ain't gonna happen.

This week: The discussion on what is the greatest 96rock song of all time as we prepare for the "Everything That Rocks 500" for this Memorial Day weekend. And a nod to Jerry Springer.

Cold Activated Beer

Carolina Raihawks Soccer: Joey Worthen and Ryan Solle
Sunday Night 6PM vs Minnesota at Wake Med Soccer Park

A new worthless survey: Things most likely to encite road rage amongst drivers on our roads.

4. People who eat or drink while they drive
3. Those fabulous tailgaters
2. People who drive too slow in the fast lane

1. Of course...people talking on cell phones

they're callin' in now: that ain't nuthin cuz

We were given a couple of cases of Coors Light Activated Cold Beers.

When the beers get to perfect drinking temperature, the Rockies on the label turn from a white color to blue. So we tossed a few in our control room cooler and looked at how long that would take.

There was a slight unforeseen problem.

So that sucked.

The Rock Epics

It's tough to define but everyone knows a rock epic when they hear one. If you had to pin down a definition...it needs to be long and have those "layers" and basically, encompass the essence of the band.
We talked about Pink Floyd kind of being THEE epic rock band on Wednesday:

There are varying opinions on this matter-we respect all of them!

The Epic List:

Stairway To Heaven
Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Layla
Hotel California
Free Bird
Do You Feel Like We Do
21st Century Schizoid Man
November Rain
One
Paradise By The Dasboard Light
Inna Gadda Da Vida
Green Grass And High Tides
The End

Jerry Springer

He isn't our sidekick!

Heath Hyche was just making fun of those "wacky zoo morning shows". He isn't our sidekick like many people think...he was just a guest...you should have seen him doing these stupid sound effects in the control room-hilarious.

Tony Romo

If they asked us to do the Commencement Speeches:

Foster: "Don't you DARE come out of there with a sense of entitlement."
Blade: "Don't sweat it, you got your degree, you'll get a gig."

F&B Show prep

blonde joke left on our voicemail (worth a listen)

And finally...Tony Romo sings "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" at the Cubs game over the weekend...whoaa.

Heath Hyche

Heath Hyche drops in to zip his show, and reads some Herschel Walker: Breaking Free-My Battle With Multiple Personality Disorder

It's Another Massage Friday

We do Massage Friday for all the listeners...a massage therapist from Massage Envy visits the show and gives us much needed massages so that we can relax and provide superior entertainment material. We cannot provide superior entertainment material unless we are totally relaxed. You understand. Surely you understand.

Bob Stokes

Bob Stokes...what have you done?

Well Bob Stokes has embroiled himself in a sexual scandal at The Weather Channel

"Would you lick my swizzle stick."

These are the words that were uttered to Weather Channel Anchorwoman Hillary Andrews recently and she will have none of it...she is filing a sexual harassment suit.

there's a storm brewing in my pants

Things Bob Stokes Could Have Said...But Didn't

"As a matter of fact I DO call it El Nino."

"Stormchaser, skirtchaser...WHATEVER!"

"No honey, I said huge...SQUALLS."

InStudio with Appetite For Destruction

Chad and Chris

This is the top G-N-R tribute band based in Raleigh, N.C. They are all from the area and as Chad put it..."we grew up on the tough streets of Cary." They did a version of Patience for our 4:20 Smokebreak.
